Event Planning & Management (6–8 Week Program)

Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
Internship: Weeks 6–7 (50 hours)

This program consists of five intensive instructional weeks followed by a supervised internship and professional development support.

Program Focus:
This certificate program builds advanced skills in luxury event planning, production, client experience, and brand storytelling. Students master the strategic, creative, and logistical aspects of event planning, learning to balance creative vision with scientific precision and strong business acumen. By the end of the program, students are equipped to plan, budget, and execute luxury events of all scales with exceptional attention to detail and guest experience.

Week 1 — Introduction to Event Planning & Management

(Monday–Thursday, 10 AM–4 PM)
• Event Foundations, Concept Creation & Design Language
• Overview of the luxury event and hospitality industry
• Roles and responsibilities of professional event planners
• Developing organizational systems and workflows
• Luxury market standards and client psychology
• Effective communication and active listening
• Client consultations and needs assessments
• Setting and managing expectations
• Event concept development, mood boarding, storytelling & design language

Week 2 — Project Management, Vendor Relations & Logistics

• Event budgeting, proposals, contracts, timelines & run-of-show development
• Hiring and collaborating with industry professionals
• Service etiquette and effective communication with vendors and clients
• Developing operational systems and contingency plans
• Leveraging technology, software, industry apps & AI
• Staffing and forecasting appropriate labor needs for seamless event production

Week 3 — Wedding Planning, Event Styling, Branding & Production

• Sourcing materials and equipment: lighting, carpeting, furniture, luxury rentals, etc.
• The science of space: indoor, outdoor, tented & nontraditional environments
• Guest flow and experiential design
• Planning for outdoor, historic & complex spaces
• Creating floor plans, maps & seating charts
• Integrating branding, storytelling & visual direction
• Workflow management and production strategy for event teams

Week 4 — Entrepreneurship, Brand Positioning, Marketing & Sales

• Conducting consultations for weddings, corporate & experiential events
• Developing proposals and design presentations for high-end clients
• Budgeting and contract best practices
• Branding and visual identity for event planners
• Creating financial plans & projections
• Marketing strategies: social media, email, content creation
• Leveraging technology & AI for marketing and operations
• Pricing structures & profitability for luxury event services

Week 5 — Capstone Project: Full Event Plan Presentation

• Concept development, theme creation & creative direction
• Professional photography for portfolio development
• Student showcase
• Peer and faculty critique
• Entrepreneurship: business planning & financial projections

Weeks 6–7 — Internship, Portfolio Review & Business Plan Session

• Students select an approved industry partner for a 50-hour internship
• Faculty review and critique of internship experience
• Final business plan review (1:1 private session)

Week 8 — Optional Electives

Electives are available at an additional cost depending on the course.

Course Completion

Upon completing the 6–8 Week Floral Design Course, students graduate with a strong foundation in luxury floral artistry and professional design techniques. Throughout the program, students create multiple arrangements—ranging from bouquets and centerpieces to event-style installations—building a polished portfolio that reflects their developing aesthetic and technical skill. Graduates leave with industry-ready competencies, knowledge of floral terminology, and the confidence to work in professional studios, retail flower environments, or begin freelancing as a floral designer for weddings, events, and corporate clients.
