Floral Design Certificate – Mastery of Artistry, Structure, and Storytelling (6–8 weeks + Capstone)

Our 6–8 Week Floral Design Course provides an in-depth, hands-on education in professional and luxury floral artistry. Students learn advanced floral techniques, premium flower processing, color theory, design mechanics, and event-driven floral styling used in weddings, social events, and corporate productions. This comprehensive program is ideal for aspiring florists, career-changers, and creatives seeking industry-ready floral design training.

Program Structure Overview

Monday–Thursday | 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
Internship: Weeks 6–7 (50 hours)

This program is divided into five intensive instructional weeks followed by internship and professional development support.

WEEK 1 — Foundations of Floral Artistry

Build strong technical and artistic fundamentals

WEEK 2 — Design Techniques & Global Styles

Intermediate to advanced techniques inspired by top international design houses
• European garden style, modern minimalism, organic luxury
• Advanced mechanics and foam-free approaches
• Centerpieces and compote arrangements
• Branch structure & large vase design
• Floral recipe building
• NYC Flower Market field trip - introduction to vendors, wholesalers, premium suppliers

WEEK 3 — Wedding & Event Design + Large-Scale Production

Learn the art and logistics of designing for luxury events
• Foam-free, sustainable methods and mechanics
• Wedding floral design for luxury ceremonies & receptions
• Corporate, branded & experiential event design
• Team workflow & production strategy
• Arches, chuppahs & structural designs
• Large-scale installations & window displays
• Oversized urns & sculptural botanicals
• Packaging, delivery, setup & breakdown
• Staffing and forecasting the appropriate labor needs for seamless event production

WEEK 4 — Retail, Business & Branding

Gain the business skills needed for long-term success
• Retail shop management
• Retail shop standards: communication, customer service
• Designing to client specifications
• Pricing, receipts & delivery process
• Sympathy floral design
• Consultations: weddings, corporate, branded experiential
• Proposals, budgeting, contracts, profitability
• Branding & visual identity for floral designers
• Marketing: social media, email, content creation
• Leveraging tech & AI for florists

WEEK 5 — Capstone Event Design + Student Showcase

Produce your own professional portfolio project
• Concept, theme & creative direction

Weeks 6–7 — Internship + Final Portfolio Review

Week 8 — Optional Electives to Enhance Mastery, Technique and Professional Confidence

Course Completion

Upon completion of the 6–8 Week Floral Design Course, students will have created multiple floral arrangements, practiced advanced design techniques, and developed a foundational portfolio showcasing their work. Graduates leave with the practical skills, industry terminology, and design confidence needed to support professional studios, retail flower shops, freelance as a floral designer, or begin offering floral services for weddings and events.
